Tickets are $8 at the door; children 4 and under are free. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

The Chagrin Falls Educational Foundation is dedicated to the continued excellence of the Chagrin Falls School District. The foundation supports educational programs and experiences that enrich opportunities for the students and faculty of the district.

Guerrini Elected Regional Director

The Ohio Educational Library Media Association membership elected Lori Guerrini, library media specialist, to serve a two-year term as the Northeast Regional Director. This year will also be her second year on the board of directors. As Ohio’s professional organization for school librarians, OELMA depends on the time and talent of dedicated educators, such as Guerrini.

As regional director, Guerrini will plan professional development at the regional and state level. She also has been an instrumental voice for school librarians as OELMA continues to advocate for the important role of school librarians in schools.

Lori is also actively planning an upcoming EduConference (to be held in 2016) focused on literature and has volunteered to serve as chair of that EduConference committee.

Blake has earned several awards during his high school career. He is a National Society of High School Scholars inductee. He also earned All-Ohio State Qualifying Academic Honors for both cross country and track, Honor Role with Distinction, AP Scholar with Distinction and received the Archie Griffith Sportsmanship Award.

Blake is a four-year member of the Chagreen Environmental and board member and president for two years, four-year member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and grade representative for two years, two-year member of FCA, two-year member of the Student Athletic Advisory Council, four-year member of the marching band and concert band and field commander for one year, two-year member of the select choir and four-year cast member of the Chagrin Falls High School spring musical.

In athletics, he is a four-year member of the track team, three-year member of the cross country team and one-year member of the JV soccer team. Blake had one state appearance in track and cross country, two first-team All CVC selections and one second-team All CVC selection.

Outside of school, Blake was a Sunday school teacher for three years and has traveled to Costa Rica and South Africa on school and church mission trips. He also worked as a busboy for two years at the Burntwood Tavern.

Blake plans to attend a university this upcoming fall as an undecided major.

Straight A Innovation Day

On Feb. 5, the Chagrin Falls School District was invited to participate in the first Straight A Innovation Day at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus. The event showcased the work of the 61 Straight A Fund grants that were awarded to districts throughout the state last year.

Ohio’s Straight A Fund supports ideas from local educators that promote academic achievement and economic efficiencies within schools and districts. As one of the grant recipients, the district was awarded $640,000 to start its own innovation project. The funding was used to implement “Project Ignite,” which provided every student in grades 3-12 with a Google Chromebook. In addition, the district used the monies to upgrade the network infrastructure required to sustain the increased access to technology in its buildings.

?Representing the district were Mike Daugherty, Nancy Kevern, Kathleen Aranavage, Jeff Womack and seventh-grade students Hanne Wilson and Emmie Ferguson. Event attendees included members of Ohio’s House and Senate, the state superintendent and Governor Kasich.

Educators from across the state visited Chagrin Falls’ booth to learn more about the project and to speak with the students about how the Chromebooks have provided new avenues for individualized learning. In addition to speaking about the project, the district had the opportunity to visit other displays to learn about innovations happening statewide. The day was an incredible learning experience for everyone involved.
