A family cat was shot and died in Newbury on March 23, according to the Geauga County Sheriff’s report.
At about 4:30 p.m. last Monday, Daniel Williamson, 15955 Thomas St., Newbury Township, told a deputy his daughter, Ali, had found their cat dragging himself by his front paws in front of their home, according to the report.
She took the cat to the veterinarian who x-rayed him and found there were several metal fragments inside the cat and his spine was broken. The cat was put down by the veterinarian.
Ali was still at the vet’s office when Williamson called the sheriff, the report said.
Williamson said he had no idea who would have shot the cat.
The report lists the incident as animal abuse. If anyone has any information, call the sheriff’s office at 440-279-2009.
