A Newbury Township man and a Concord Township man were arrested and charged with possession of heroin Tuesday after someone called the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office regarding suspicious activity.
The caller thought a possible drug deal had just happened at St. Luke’s Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road in Munson Township and said the suspects — Dain C. Oliver, 24, of Newbury, and Adam Palumbo, 24, of Concord — were still in the parking lot, officials said.
Sheriff’s deputies and Chardon police officers arrived in the area and observed both men sitting in a vehicle, the sheriff’s office said, adding Oliver and Palumbo reportedly attempted to conceal heroin and needles as the law enforcement officers approached.
They were both subsequently arrested for possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony.
Both men denied selling heroin and stated they were at the church to pick a friend up that was attending an AA meeting, officials said.
Oliver and Palumbo will be arraigned today in Chardon Municipal Court.
