After eight seasons, five conference titles and 131 varsity wins, Josh Jakacki has left his post as Kenston boys basketball coach.
Jakacki will return to Crestwood, his alma mater, as the Red Devils’ varsity boys basketball coach. He will remain a Kenston teacher.
He said it was a tough decision, but one that focused on his wife and five kids. The Jakackis live in the Crestwood school district.
“My allegiance to Kenston is still strong,” he said Friday afternoon. “But basketball is a full time job, and I had to think about my full time job, fatherhood, and make a decision that benefits my family the most.”
Jakacki, a 1994 Crestwood graduate who is still the Red Devils’ all-time leader in points and assists, coached at Crestwood for six season before taking the Bombers’ job.
His Kenston teams dominated the Chagrin Valley Conference, winning five CVC Chagrin Division titles and amassing a 131-44 record during his eight seasons. Kenston will join the Western Reserve Conference next season.
“I appreciate the Kenston community,” he said. “They have been tremendous with their support.”
He will continue to coach middle school football and girls varsity track at Kenston.
