After a lengthy discussion, Cardinal Schools Board of Education agreed informally May 27 to place a five-year, 2-mill general permanent improvement levy on the Nov. 3 ballot. District Treasurer Merry Lou Knuckles said 2 mills, which would yield more than $600,000 per year, is the minimum the district needs to replace the roofs on the schools, replace worn out buses and vans and update technology. She said Thursday the levy would cost homeowners $70 annually per $100,000 valuation. “This levy is not for salaries or programming.
