A 54-year-old Parkman Township road department employee was killed while helping replace a culvert on Reeves Road around 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Geauga County law enforcement source.
The accident occurred a mile east of the corner of Reeves and Bundysburg where township employees were working on the culvert.
Both Parkman and Middlefield fire departments attended the scene, according to the source.
Once the victim was unburied, it was discovered he was unconscious, but breathing, the source said. However, he apparently arrested at the scene and CPR was administered.
Due to the condition of the victim, he could not be transported by helicopter, sources said. He was transported by ambulance to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.
The law enforcement source said the victim has died. The Maple Leaf is withholding the man’s identity pending confirmation from Geauga County Coroner Robert Coleman.
