The Chardon Library Book Buddies gathered for an ice cream social at the gazebo on Chardon Square to celebrate their summer reading. Twenty-nine Chardon elementary students completed at least six hours of reading activities with their teenage and adult volunteers. The buddies were each applauded by their proud parents, grandparents, Chardon Rotary member and school Superintendent Mike Hanlon and BOE member Karen Blankenship as they were presented with a copy of a Shel Silverstein book and certificates. The Chardon Rotary generously supports the Chardon Library Book Buddies with funds for the poetry books, ice cream party treats and miscellaneous supplies.
