Township Meetings

At Munson Township Hall: Jan. 12 & 26, Board of Trustees, 6:30 p.m.; Jan. 11, Park & Recreation Board, 6:15 p.m.; Jan. 21, Board of Zoning Appeals, 6:30 p.m.; Jan. 26, Zoning Commission, 7 p.m.

All township meetings are open to the public. Meeting dates are subject to change and can be verified by visiting www.munson twp.com or by calling the office, 440-286-7255.

Township offices will be closed Jan. 18 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

CASA for KIDS Geauga County

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers are needed for training by the Child Advocate Society of Geauga County. The volunteers serve to advocate in the best interest of abused and neglected children involved in the juvenile court.

No specific background is required, but volunteers must be at least 24 years of age and have no criminal record. For more information, visit www.geaugacasa.org or call 440-279-1696.

At the Senior Center

The Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson, will be closed Jan. 7 and 8 for staff training. The center will also be closed Jan. 18 for Martin Luther King Day.

Ping pong is back every Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and shuffleboard resumes every Tuesday from 10-11 a.m.

Water aerobics with Sue Fazekas at Punderson Pool begins Jan. 12. For information and required registration, call 440-279-2130.

Junior Cavaliers at the “Y”

The Junior Cavaliers Basketball League will be held Jan. 11 through March 19 at the Geauga Family YMCA, 12460 Bass Lake Road, Munson. Teams will be organized by age groups from 3 years old to 14 years old.

With the Genealogical Society

The Geauga County Genealogical Society (GCGS) extends an invitation to its next meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 12 in the Bostwick Room, Chardon Library on Chardon Square.

Patrick Jolly, guest speaker, will have a very interesting speech, “Patrick Henry, My Ancestor.” Jolly is also an avid fiddler.

The event is free and open to all. Light refreshments served.

Tri-County Coin Club

The Tri-County Coin Club will meet at 6:45 p.m. Jan. 13 at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson. After a short business meeting, there will be a 50-plus-lot coin auction, coin displays and more. The monthly meetings are free and open to all ages of coin collectors. With the Arts

A reception for the members of the Shutterbugs Camera Club and the display of their beautiful nature photography will be held Jan. 15 from 7-9 p.m. at the Geauga Park District’s West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road, Russell Township. The event is free and open to all. Refreshments served. The display continues through March 28.
