Jessica Ronyak, the 2009 Berkshire graduate and former volleyball Player of the Year, will step down as head coach after two seasons.
After meeting with Athletic Director Brian Hiscox on Monday, Ronyak has decided to go back to school.
“As much as she loves coaching and loves Berkshire, Jess has decided she will be trying to further her education,” Hiscox wrote in an email. “This was a tough decision for Jess to make, but we support her in that decision.”
Ronyak led the Badgers to a Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division co-championship last season. After a short fallow period, Ronyak had re-established the Badgers to the level she had played at while wearing the purple and gold uniform.
“Jess is a Badger through and through. We can’t thank her enough for her service to this program and wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors,” Hiscox wrote.
Ronyak will continue to serve as assistant varsity basketball coach through the end of the season, Hiscox said.
Berkshire will begin the search for its new coach immediately, Hiscox said.
