Sweet Grace Anna’s is a small, family-owned bakery in Chardon specializing in artistic wedding and all-occasion cakes, gourmet cupcakes, pastries, cookies and French macarons.
The treats at this bakery are made completely from scratch, and one bite from a Sweet Grace Anna’s pastry will confirm that.
The pastries and cakes/cupcakes are made with real ingredients such as butter, real whipped cream, pure vanilla beans and extracts, fresh fruit and imported chocolate.
Though every customer has his/her favorite, some of the best enjoyed products include the Salted Caramel cupcake, the Better Than Sex cupcake, raspberry French macarons, Reddies (red velvet brownies), Ladylocks, and the light and fluffy Cream Wafer sandwich cookies.
Owner Devin Bennett and his wife, Ellen Harvischak, operate the business as a dynamic team with a combined 20 years of experience. Bennett, an art school graduate, creates the unique over-the-top sculptural cakes he has become known for in three states.
He has produced some incredible but edible artwork, such as a detailed “dogs playing poker” cake, a 6-foot spider cake and an award-winning 4-foot Megalodon shark cake suspended in mid air.
Harvischak is in charge of baking all of the delectable goodies you can find when you visit the shop and she is passionate about her job. She loves creating unique flavors and strives to make the products delightfully delicious. She also ices and decorates the more feminine cakes for weddings, showers, birthdays and other events. She demonstrates a master-level skill-set in buttercream piping, fondant work and artistically decorated sugar cookies and puts her own artistic abilities to work as well.
The bakery is currently open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, they are working on expanding their hours and menu to includes an earlier opening time for breakfast items such as pecan sticky buns, muffins, gourmet donuts and savory baked items as well as a self-serve coffee station. Those hours will be posted to Facebook soon.
