Parent Teacher Conferences

Kenston High School will hold parent teacher conferences Feb. 18 from 4-8 p.m. in the high school gym. The College Credit Plus meeting will take place at 7 p.m.

College Credit Plus Program

The College Credit Plus Program (formerly Postsecondary Enrollment Options) allows eligible students in grades 7-12 to take a college course and earn high school and college credit that appears on both their high school and college transcripts. Students must meet eligibility requirements set forth by the college or university to participate.

Students and parents interested in participating in the program for the 2016-17 school year must attend the College Credit Plus night at Kenston High School, Robert A. Lee Auditorium on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.

Representatives from area colleges and universities will be available to answer questions. Specific details on the program will be progressively added to the guidance website and in the high school guidance office as they become available.

Speech & Debate State Qualifiers

Six Speech and Debate state qualifiers and four alternates will represent Kenston High School at the state tournament in early March. State qualifiers are Megan Herbruck and Savannah Georgian in Duo Competition, Belle Puckett in Original Oratory, Anna Soryal in Informational Speaking, Kim Voudris in Informative Speaking and Jessica Sunderhaft in Program Oral Interpretation. Sarah Herbruck, Morgan Spehar, Taylor Vargo and Nick Vitello are alternates.

Rotary Senior

Chad Lindner was selected Kenston’s Chagrin Valley Rotary Club Student of the Month. He maintains a 4.097 grade point average. Last summer, he attended the National Student Leadership Conference in biotechnology held at Northwestern.

He is the founder and president of Kenston’s Culinary Culture Club in which students learn about different cultures and enjoy a variety of foods. He is a member of the Math Club, Creating Exceptional Character and Mu Alpha Theta, a math honorary. He is a member of the varsity baseball team, earning All-Conference honors as a sophomore.

Chad is the part owner of an online marketplace for gently used special needs equipment. He is part of its marketing team and manages its social media. He is a volunteer tutor for Kenston Academy and at the Chagrin Falls Park Community Center. He is a golf caddie at Barrington Country Club, Canterbury Country Club and Chagrin Valley Country Club. He has also worked as a math tutor at Math Monkey.

He plans to attend the University of Michigan, College of Engineering and major in materials science and engineering.

Kindergarten 2016-17

Parent information night for incoming kindergartners will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 29 at Timmons Elementary School for children entering kindergarten this August.

Registration packets must be picked up at this time. Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30.
