The Chester Township Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on Feb. 4. Trustees want to thank the troop members for their attendance and upcoming project work.
The West Geauga High School girls fast-pitch softball league advised the trustees that they are interested in using Parkside Park for 12 to 14 home games. Some items that will be needed include field preparation work and a temporary fence, including installation and off-season storage of the fence. The league will work with the Chester Park Board to develop a summary of the expected costs.
Trustees approved the use of the Chester School property by the West Geauga Baseball Federation April through July of 2016.
They also approved the township highway system mileage certification, as well as resolutions of convenience and necessity for improvements and for chip seal of various roads in Chester in 2016. There are no monies appropriated for asphalt resurfacing in 2016.
The town hall sign was discussed and a resident volunteered to assist in its completion.
The Recycle Park was discussed regarding the increased use and the Chesterland Recycling Committee plans to visit a recovery facility in the near future. The security camera project decision regarding the county proposal was postponed as one of the trustees offered to obtain additional quotations. The flowers for the street poles were discussed with no decision reached.

On Feb. 9, a continuation of the public hearing was held regarding Chester Zoning Resolution Amendment Z-2015-1. By a majority vote of the board of trustees, the amendment was defeated.
