Chester Township Trustees will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. July 14 on the proposed 2017 budget, as they continue to feel the sting from state cuts to local governments. The proposed budget would eat into carryover money and further erode the township’s dwindling general fund. “We’re into deficit spending,” Trustee Mike Petruziello said at a recent township meeting. “I’m opposed to that.” Historically, the trustees have allocated 2 mills of general fund money to supplement the road department’s budget.
