Geauga County Recorder Sharon Gingerich is attending her first Republican National Convention in downtown Cleveland as an alternate delegate for Ohio Gov. John Kasich. She shares what it’s like to attend one of the biggest political events of 2016.
4:30 PM: A roll call vote of delegates has been called for 5:30 p.m., most likely affirming Donald Trump’s nomination. All delegates are leaving the Kasich party at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame so we can get to The Q in time. During the roll call, not every state will vote for Trump. For example, Ohio committed to vote for Gov. John Kasich. However, Trump has already gotten all the 1,237 delegates he needs for the nomination, but the Ohio delegation must vote Kasich the first time.
