Tri-County Coin Club
The Tri-County Coin Club will meet March 13 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road in Chardon. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. followed by a business meeting at 7:15 p.m. and a 50-plus-lot coin auction, door prizes, coin displays, raffle and 50/50 drawing.

Boutique and Exclusive Shop
Mayfield United Methodist Church is hosting a Boutique and Exclusive Shop March 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the church, 7747 Mayfield Road in Chester Township. The sale features “nearly new” dresses, suits and accessories for prom and upcoming special occasions.
Proceeds benefit Mayfield Church Missions, both local and abroad.
Rescue Village Volunteer Fair
Rescue Village is holding its third annual volunteer fair on March 12 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the shelter, 15463 Chillicothe Road in Novelty.
Meet the staff of Rescue Village and learn about the volunteer programs and opportunities available at the shelter, or at offsite events as well as other, non-animal care positions. Learn about opportunities for youth ages 8-15.

Hop into Spring Craft Show
The annual Hop into Spring craft show featuring a wide variety of crafters selling unique hand-crafted items takes place March 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ, 17751 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township. Admission is $1.
There also will be a bake sale and luncheon.
Chili Cook-Off, Chinese Auction
The Huntsburg Grange’s 14th annual chili cook-off and Chinese auction is March 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Huntsburg gym located at US-322 and SR-528. Buy a sampler pack for $3 and vote for Peoples Choice award.
Event also features live music by Bob Stanek and the Boys are Back bands, a cakewalk, food, kids’ games, 50/50 raffle, vendors and displays by local organizations.

Free Community Breakfast
Ledgewood Christian Church is hosting a free community breakfast March 15 from 8-10:30 a.m. at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.
The church will hosts a breakfast the third Saturday of each month thereafter, weather permitting. Menu includes pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy and beverages.

Good Samaritan Dinner
The Burton Congregational Church, UCC, Good Samaritan Dinner will be held March 19, from 5-6:30 p.m., at the church on the square in Burton. The cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-11 and free for children 3 and under.
The homemade meal consists of meat, two sides, bread, dessert and beverage. Takeout is available by calling 440-834-4495 the day of the dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds go to meet emergency needs of local families.
Scotch Doubles Bowling
Cardinal High School S.A.F.E. After Prom is holding a Scotch Doubles bowling event March 22 from 9 p.m. to midnight at Sky Lane in the Sky Plaza on Route 82 in Garrettsville. The cost is $20 per person or $40 per couple and includes three games of bowling, shoes, ball, pizza and pop. There will be basket and 50/50 raffles, prizes and fun.

Claridon Community Helps Dinner, Auction
Claridon Community Helps will be hosting a chicken dinner fundraiser April 5 at VFW Post 6519 in Chardon across from Sage’s Apples. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner being served at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 a person, with a cash bar available. A sweet treats Chinese and silent auction featuring cakes, pies, cookies and a few non-traditional sweets will be held.

Chardon Kiwanis Maple Sales
The Chardon Area Kiwanis announces the return of maple syrup and maple sugar sales at the Log Cabin on Chardon Square each Saturday and Sunday starting March 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and through each day of the Maple Festival April 24-27. All funds raised through the sale support the scholarships that it awards to Chardon area students and various other projects that it sponsors each year.
In addition to the sweets offered in the Log Cabin, the Sugarhouse and Stir Booth will be open for visitors to enjoy every Sunday prior to the festival from noon to 5 p.m.

Arts Festival Seeks Artisans
Art on the Hill and Wine Tasting 2014, a daylong art festival, is seeking artisans to sell and display their handmade works of art at its sixth annual event to be held July 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Mantua. Booth fee is $45.

Genealogy Society Meets
Sylvia Wiggins will speak on the Underground Railroad at the March 11 meeting of the Geauga County Genealogical Society. She will discuss quilt patterns used to help mark the way to safety.

Church of St. Mary’s Fish Frys
St. Mary’s Church will be hosting its annual all-you-can-eat Lenten fish fry buffet from 4:30-7:30 p.m. for the six Fridays in Lent starting March 7 through April 11.
Pricing for dine in guests is $12 for adults, $6 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and under. Carryout pricing is $10 for adults and $5 for children 6-12.

Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinics
Rescue Village and PetFix Northeast Ohio mobile surgical van have teamed up to help stop pet overpopulation with Fix it in the Farmland. The program provides low cost spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs and is available to low income and Amish families; qualifications apply.
One does not have to live in Geauga County to use the clinics.
A clinic will take place March 8 at Tractor Supply, 15411 W. High St., Middlefield. A second clinic will be March 22 at Joe Miller’s Window Shop, 15020 Shedd Road, Burton. Cost is $15 per animal. For more information and to prequalify, call Joan Lax at 440-338-4819 ext. 21.
Free Educational Events
Geauga Feed will present two free educational programs at Mangia! Mangia! located at 11081 Kinsman Road in Newbury. On March 10, Elise Able of Blue Seal Feeds will present “Bust Some Common Myths About Feeding Horses” for horse owners, and on March 24, she will present information on the basics of raising poultry in one’s back yard.
Both programs will begin with free pizza for attendees at 6 p.m., followed by the presentation at 6:30 p.m. There will be door prizes, samples and coupons.

Geauga YAP Meeting
Geauga County Farm Bureau is sponsoring its second Young Agriculture Professionals gathering at Mangia! Mangia! in Newbury on March 6 at 7 p.m. Guest speaker Kraig Suter, of Farm Credit Mid-America, will discuss agriculture loans and other programs available to young farmers that are currently farming and those looking to get started.
The Young Agriculture Professionals consist of young farmers and aspiring farmers typically between the ages of 16-40. Members and non-Farm Bureau members are encouraged to attend.
