Geauga Dairymen
Geauga Dairymen 4-H Club recently painted the window of a business in Chardon to promote National 4-H week March 3-9. The club was joined by a new member, Nick Auth.
After painting the window, the club held its meeting at Pizza Hut, where it elected 2014 officers: Dominic Ferrante, president; Maddi Johnson, vice president; Lizzy Knoop, secretary; Vincent Ferrante, treasurer; Garrett Hastings, news reporter; Travis Johnson and Nick Ricci, recreation; Paul Ricci, health; and Mark Auth, safety.
Minutes from the last meeting and a treasurer report were reviewed and approved. The club discussed the quantity of candy bars it could sell as part of the county 4-H fundraiser.
Members reviewed possibly touring a maple sugar farm as a club during Maple Madness. Club advisor Emma distributed a 2014 club calendar, member list and the Hoard’s Dairymen judging contest information. The next meeting will be held in March.

Thompson Ledge Dairymen
Thompson Ledge Dairymen met on Feb. 22 for their first annual meeting of the new year. Committee members were voted in, including: Brian, president; Lucas, vice president; Ben, secretary; Kalli, treasurer; Matthew, news reporter; Suzy, safety; and Joshua, health.
Groups started planning the year’s activities, including decorating window at Robinson Tractor in Thompson. They are studying for quality insurance and look forward to a new year. (Submitted by Matthew Burton, news reporter)
Geauga Beef and Swine
Geauga Beef and Swine 4-H Club had a meeting on Feb. 9. At the meeting, two new members were introduced.
Members went over the treasurer’s report, sales report and Junior Fair Board report. They made a basket with food in it and gave it to a family in need that has three small children and recently lost their job.
They also collected and gave food to the Geauga Hunger Task Force food drive and donated $200 to a 17-year-old girl who got in a sledding accident.
New duffle bags were given to the members. The club decided it will do a window display at Mapledale for 4-H Week. In addition, the club bought a scale to use to keep track of the weight of its pigs.
Awards were passed out to everyone from last year. Last, members decided to have the next meeting March 9 at Pizza Hut at 3 p.m. (Submitted by Haley Frank, news reporter)
