Ho-Ho-Ho Hiking with Santa & Buddy the Elf
Dec. 10, 12:30-2 p.m. and 2:30-4 p.m.
Discover the wonders of the season on a magical hike with Santa Claus and Buddy the Elf – a great photo opportunity – at the West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road, Russell Township. Santa will even be available after the hike for photos and wish lists. Registration required.
Art Takes A Bough
For the 10th consecutive year, all are invited to enjoy and purchase handmade holiday ornaments by regional artists through the Art Takes a Bough community art project at The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.
From 6-9 p.m., the beautiful miniature pieces of artwork may be admired and purchased at “buy it now” prices ranging from $5 to $30 at $5 increments during an open house and reception.
Guests will enjoy holiday refreshments while they enjoy the hunt. Then, from 7-8 p.m., Bill Hixson, an accomplished floral designer who has helped decorate The White House for the holidays for over 30 years, will share humorous stories centered on decorating various rooms within the White House and folklore surrounding ornament designs and holiday traditions. Some of his ornaments will also be available for sale and signing at the event.
Registration is not required.
As in the past, 50 percent of sales will go directly to the artist; the remaining 50 percent will be split equally between the Geauga Council for Arts and Culture and Geauga Park District. Ornament artists who would like to sell their work should visit http://bit.ly/gpdspecial.
Observatory Park Backcountry Hike
Dec. 10, 1-3 p.m.
Take an off-trail hike to explore Observatory Park’s ledges, history and tiny beginnings of the Cuyahoga River. This will be a strenuous, off-trail hike, so dress for the weather and prepare to get feet wet. Registration is required.
Observatory Park is located at 10610 Clay St. in Montville Township.
