Giggles ‘n Stitches

The Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Club was recently honored for its outstanding achievements for the 2016 year at the member and volunteer recognition luncheon held for all of the Geauga County 4-H clubs. Starting off with lunch and moving on to an awards ceremony, families were gathered to honor the hard work the members and parent volunteers had put into the year’s projects and club events.

Giggles ‘n Stitches had many outstanding achievements, but some of the more exemplary ones came from the individual awards. For the Ohio State Fair qualifiers and participants, Maggie Eibler (Sew for Others), Autumn Hamby (Creative Costumes) and Graycen Wood (Shopping Savvy) all received recognition for their effort this year and their state placements.

Cloverbud Sunny Reinart was honored with the Outstanding 4-H Cloverbud Award. Katherine Baumgartner received the Outstanding 4-H Member Award for serving as the club’s president and being selected for the 2016 Junior Fair Court, as did Graycen Wood for her many years of outstanding service to the club. Graycen Wood also received the Senior Gold Medal Award for community service, and Elizabeth Cooper, for the second year in a row, was awarded the Outstanding Secretary Award for her impeccable bookkeeping skills.

Mrs. Julia Wood and Mrs. Beth Ward, the volunteers who lead Giggles ‘n Stitches, were recognized for seven years of volunteering within the 4-H community. Finally, Sarah Ward and Graycen Wood were recognized along with other members of the Youth Fashion Board.

The club as a whole was then honored for its community service, helping to cut fabric for capes that were then delivered to children in local hospitals for some comfort away from home. The club received the Honor Club Award for the sixth year in a row, showing the dedication the members and volunteers have to their club and the community. Giggles ‘n Stitches was also recognized for participating in the Family-A-Fair sponsor program and the 2016 Field to Plate educational trip.

All of the club members, parents and volunteers worked extremely hard this year and that hard work paid off with lots of recognition and goodwill shared over a lovely meal.
