OMEA Jr. High Honors Choir
Four Newbury junior high school students traveled to Solon Middle School to participate in the Ohio Music Educators Association District VII Middle School Honors Choir Jan. 13 and 14. These students were selected to participate in this event with other top Cleveland-area middle school vocalists. The group rehearsed and learned a full concert’s worth of repertoire over the course of two days, with just around eight hours total of combined rehearsal time. They performed a final community concert at Solon High School on Jan. 14.
Students Attend Inauguration
Newbury High School students were in Washington, D.C., to view first-hand the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States – taking learning to whole new level. The 17 Newbury students and school leaders arrived in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 17, where they picked up their inauguration tickets. The live learning experience continued with tours of D.C. attractions including the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, the Capitol, Supreme Court, Spy Museum, Smithsonian Institution museums, and D.C. monuments.
The students were part of a group of students who started the journey by first attending the Iowa caucuses in January 2016. They experienced the live political process when they traveled to Iowa for the caucuses.
The Newbury students traveled with students by charter bus with students from Lordstown High School for the four-day tour, which culminated with the presidential inauguration.
