The Olympics are over but Andy Fetchik keeps a flame burning.
“Andy carries the torch for education well,” said Chardon Superintendent Mike Hanlon. “The success of our students is a direct result of the excellent leadership that Andy and his team have provided the school. His recognition as Principal of the Year is indicative of his strong commitment to the students, staff and community members in our school district.”
Fetchik was named Ohio’s 2015 High School Principal of the Year by the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators.
OASSA and MetLife co-sponsor the Ohio Principal of the Year award in conjunction with the National Principal of the Year award sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Administrators (NASSA). Mr. Fetchik was chosen Ohio’s winner by a panel of judges representing members of the educational community.
When reflecting on their principal’s tenure at Chardon High School, students Katie Vadakin and Courtney Kamm commented, “Mr. Fetchik has proven to our school, as well as our community, that he is capable of handling any situation with professionalism and grace, while never losing the faith of his community.”
As Ohio’s 2015 Principal of the Year, Mr. Fetchik will be a guest of MetLife at a leadership symposium in Washington, D.C. this fall and at the NASSP Convention in the spring. He also will be honored at the OASSA Fall Conference and receive a signet ring and a plaque from the Association. Additionally, he will represent Ohio for the national MetLife/NASSP Principal of the Year award, which will be announced in September.
Andy and his wife Julie reside in Munson Township with their three children, Drew, Heath and Aubrey.
