In an effort to accommodate village residents who spend months away from home, or who generate small amounts of garbage, Middlefield Village Council voted unanimously March 9 to modify the trash hauling program to allow for a “bag” option. In January, council decided to hire Cincinnati-based Rumpke Company as the village’s single trash hauler, after months of problems running the village’s recycling center. Last July, council determined the recycling center was being misused as a dumping ground for old furniture and garbage.
