Got Critters?

Ken Smith, from Animal X “Critter Control, will present the 2017 home safety presentation: “Wildlife Around Your Home” at all four senior centers talk about the animals in and around the home and answer questions regarding the wildlife in Geauga County.

He will speak on March 25 at 12:30 p.m. at Chagrin Falls Senior Center; and March 30 at 11 a.m. at West Geauga Senior Center.

Legacy Planning Workshop

March 28, 10:30 a.m.

Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

April 4, 1 p.m.

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP 4527 will meet at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road.

Speaker Chuck Hess, president of the Bainbridge Historical Society, will talk about the history of Bainbridge Township and the celebrations of the bicentennial this year.

Tickets for the group’s spaghetti lunch on May 9 will be sold at the meeting.

Non-perishable food and paper products will be collected for the Food for Friends food pantry as well as donations of dog food and money for the Geauga County Dog Shelter.

The 1920 Cleveland Indians

April 5, 10:30 a.m.

Speaker Dennis Sutcliffe, of Lost Cleveland, will present “Tragedy And Triumph – The 1920 Cleveland Indians” at Middlefield Senior Center, 15820 Ridgewood Road in Middlefield. The program will examine on how the team went all the way seeking a World Series title even though obstacles tried to prevent it.

A “Best Dressed Indians Fan” contest and a hot dog lunch with root beer floats will follow the presentation.

Daytime Senior Book Groups

Seniors who love to read are invited to join in interesting discussions on a variety of books. Pick up the yearly reading list at a local senior center or call Sandy McLeod at 440-279-2137.

Book discussion groups are held the second Monday of each month at Geauga West Library from 1-2 p.m. and the second Thursday of each month at Burton Public Library from 1:30-3 p.m.

A group will discuss “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrich Bachman on April 10 at Geauga West Library and “A View from the Buggy” by Jerry Eicher on April 13 at Burton Library.

Discussion books are available for loan at the hosting library’s front desk. Call to reserve a book.

AARP Smart Driver Class

April 11, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, will host the new AARP Smart Driver class. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. To register, call Christine Bacon at 440-279-2131.

Munson Twp. Senior Trash Pickup

April 24-26

Munson Township Trustees and Munson Road Department are joining forces with the Geauga County Department on Aging for the Munson Township Senior Trash Pick-Up Days.

Seniors must first register with the department on aging by April 17. Once registered, seniors may call to be placed on the trash pick-up roster. One must be 60 years of age or older and live in Munson Township.

The Munson Township Road Crew and the Department on Aging will pick up refuse from the senior’s home.
