Recent Cardinal High School graduate Dawn Scribben finished at the top of her class when it came to attendance. The Class of 2017 alumna received a plaque and special recognition at the Senior Awards ceremony May 18 for 10 years of perfect attendance.

Joining the Cardinal family in 2006, Scribben has been in class every day since third grade in the 2007-08 school year.

She credits her streak to simple luck in not getting sick.

“This is really great, I enjoyed school and being here everyday helped me do well in classes,” Scribben said. “I also played a lot of sports, so that was a big factor as well; I had to be in school if I wanted to play in the game and be there for the team.”

Scribben was a member of the volleyball, basketball and softball teams throughout her years at Cardinal.

While in high school, she was also part of the Key Club — serving as its president in the 2016-17 school year, the National Honor Society and marching band.

Scribben graduated from Cardinal High School on May 20 with an honors diploma and a 3.7 GPA. She plans to attend Cleveland State University in the fall.

In addition to Scribben, fellow Class of 2017 member Joseph Stanziale also was recognized at the Senior Awards Banquet for having four years of perfect attendance.

Stanziale will attend Kent State University in the fall.
