The Chardon Area Fireworks Fund, Inc. has selecetd Sunday night, July 2, for the pyrotechnics at Chardon High School’s Memorial Track and Field.
Fireworks are set to blast off at approximately 9:58:39:23 p.m.
Despite a decrease in donations for the Fireworks Fund over the years, the actual amount spent for the show has remained the same, said Dave Jevnikar. The result is a shorter show each year.
Donations are needed from the entire community, so please send any donations to Chardon Area Fireworks, P.O. Box 336, Chardon OH 44024.
Fireworks isn’t the only thing for going on in Chardon that night. The Chardon High School Alumni Association, in concert with Chardon Schools, will host an alumni get-together in the Chardon High School cafeteria before the fireworks show.
On display will be the amazing CHS Alumni Association Memorabilia Collection, Jevnikar said. This collection comprises yearbooks, photos, newspapers, booklets and clothing — all the way back to the mid 1800s. Hours are from 8 p.m. until the fireworks show.
Refreshments will be provided at various locations throughout the grounds: pop, popcorn, King Kone ice cream, Buckeye Chocolate kettle corn and more will be available.
Chardon Schools Foundation will once again be selling glowing necklaces and other “night delights” throughout the crowd.
Don’t forget the Chardon Schools Foundation’s Race/Walk for Education is Saturday morning, July 1, 8 a.m., at Chardon Memorial Field. Register online now at Chardonschoolsfounation.org.
On July 4, celebrate “Old Glory Day” on Chardon Square.
