New Scholarships Offered

Protect Geauga Parks, a grassroots conservation organization in Geauga County, is offering The Protect Geauga Parks Bob McCullough Memorial Conservation Scholarship. Three conservation scholarships of $500 each will be presented in November to qualified students in Geauga County who are graduating in 2018 and have an interest in studying the natural or environmental sciences.

Qualified applicants should also have demonstrated a commitment to conservation through their extra-curricular activities, projects, hobbies or part-time employment. A short essay that describes how their activities demonstrate their commitment to conservation is required.

Solar Eclipse Watch Party

Aug. 21, 1-3 p.m.

Join fellow enthusiasts to watch the partial solar eclipse. Safe viewing equipment will be available. In the event of inclement weather, a live streaming view of the total eclipse will be shown inside the library.

The visible eclipse will begin at 1 p.m. and maximum phase of the eclipse will be at 2:30 p.m. Stop by for observing and enjoy light refreshments. No registration needed.

Local Author Fair

Sept. 9, 1-3 p.m.

Club Ink’s annual Local Author Fair takes place at the Chardon Branch and features many local authors selling and signing their books. The event is free and open to the general public.

Visit geaugalibrary.net for a list of featured authors. Local authors interested in reserving a table at the fair may email Club.Ink@geaugalibrary.info to inquire.

Before the Local Author Fair, author and illustrator Lindsay Ward will present a storytime for preschoolers at 10:30 a.m. She will read books, answer questions and teach children to draw a book character. Books will be available for signing. Registration required.
