Geauga County is experiencing a shortage of substitute school teachers, nurses and teacher’s aides, according to Matt Galemmo, the county super-intendent of schools.“It’s a difficult time making calls in the early morning to fill these short-term slots,” he said. “We’re trying to broaden our base of applicants to have more people available.Galemmo noted that substitutes in foreign lan-guages, math and science are among the most difficult to fill, but teachers are needed in all subjects.He estimates there is a need everyday somewhere in the county for two to three substitutes.
