The wonderful apple is still being celebrated at festivals and farms in desserts and savory dishes. If you haven’t made your own pie with fresh apples yet, there’s still time.
For a treat your kids will love, dip some apples in caramel.
This recipe takes that great caramel apple taste and puts it into a poke cake.

CARAMEL APPLE POKE CAKE
Ingredients:
1 box yellow cake mix
1 can (12 oz.) apple pie filling
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs
14 cup milk
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 small jar caramel ice cream topping (plus a little to drizzle)
1 cup toffee bits
1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip cream for topping
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×13-inch pan and set aside,
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, apple pie filling, vanilla, cinnamon, eggs and milk. Mix with a mixer until combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- While cake is baking, combine condensed milk and caramel topping. Set aside.
- Remove from oven and while cake is still hot, poke holes into cake with a fork or a straw. Pour condensed milk mixture over cake and allow to cool completely.
- Sprinkle half of toffee bits over cake and spread with whipped topping.
- Drizzle a little caramel and sprinkle with toffee bits.
