Best in Jazz History

Nov. 19, 4 p.m.

The Lakeland Civic Orchestra and the Lakeland Jazz Impact will combine for a concert highlighting the music of some of jazz music’s greatest contributors, who were all born in 1917. The concert, titled “A Centennial Celebration of: Monk, Gillespie, Dameron and Rich” will be held on the college’s main campus in the Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $2 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the college’s box office on the date of the concert or in advance by calling 440-525-7134.

WomenSafe Theater Party

Nov. 26, 2 p.m.

The matinee performance of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” at the Chagrin Valley Little Theater is a benefit hosted by Friends of WomenSafe. The lobby will open at 1 p.m. for a gift certificate raffle. Complimentary refreshments will be served during intermission.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children 10 and under. The theater party is made possible through the continuing generosity of the Junction Auto Family.

Featuring the award-winning score, the musical is the story of Belle and the Beast, who happens to be a handsome prince cursed by a beautiful enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will be lifted. If not, he and his servants will be doomed for all eternity.

Geauga Hunger Task Force Benefit Planned

The Good Tidings Benefit Choir will perform at Notre Dame Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson Township.

Celebrating its 28th year, the popular program raises money through goodwill offerings for the Geauga Hunger Task Force, which consists of seven emergency food pantries throughout the county.

The Good Tidings choir will be performing Christmas selections, including a portion of GF Handel’s “Messiah.” Concertgoers will be invited to join in the Hallelujah chorus. Pilgrim Brass from Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon and “Rory Swift from Aurora will perform on Saturday. The Johnnycake Ridge Singers from Mentor will perform on Sunday.

Admission is free, but a goodwill offering will be collected. Reservations are not necessary.
