• HEAP: Jan. 30, 11 a.m. Geauga Department of Aging social worker Silvana Kostura will be giving information on the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), which is a federally funded program that helps eligible Ohioans pay their home energy bill.

• Geauga Parks: Jan. 31, 11 a.m. Geauga Park District presents “Geauga Wildlife: Past & Present.” See how human settlement of the local area has changed the landscape and affected wildlife.

Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

Feb. 6, 1 p.m.

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP Chapter 4527 will meet at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.

Exercise therapist Rosalie Franek will talk about keeping seniors healthy and fit in the frigid winter months. Then, the group will enjoy some games of bingo, followed by a short meeting.

If the Kenston School system is cancelled due to weather, the meeting will also be cancelled. Check local television stations for school closings.

Food and staples will be collected for the Food for Friends food pantry as well as dog food, blankets and treats for the Geauga Dog Shelter. Monetary donations are also appreciated.

Hip and Knee Pain Session

Feb. 12, 10:30 a.m.

Dr. Benjamin Silver, orthopedic reconstructive surgeon at UH Geauga, will discuss hip and knee pain at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive in Chardon. After the informational session, the UH Therapy Department will provide exercise and safety tips for hip and knee pain.

Call Christine Bacon at 440-279-1231 or Melissa Wheeler at 440-279-2126 to register. One must be registered with the Geauga Department on Aging for 2018.

Free CPR Class

Feb. 13, 9 a.m. to noon

The Chardon Senior Center & University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center will be hosting a free CPR training class to all registered Geauga County seniors at the Chardon Senior Center. Learn the basic skills needed to help save a life using the CPR method.
