Amid loud cheers and jeers at the March 5 Newbury Schools Board of Education meeting, residents showed the further polarization of the community as several called for one board member’s resignation. At one point, one woman in the audience accused another of being on the wrong side, based on where she sat during the meeting. Before the meeting, about 50 people, most of them students, held a rally at the corner of Kinsman and Auburn roads in support of the previous board, and protesting the current board’s position on pursuing opportunities to consolidate the district with another district.
