On March 12 Geauga County Auditor Frank Gliha announced his last day in office would be April 3. That Tuesday morning county commissioners swore in Chuck Walder as the interim county auditor. To take the position, Chuck Walder, who was set to run against Gliha in the May primary, had to resign as Russell Township fiscal officer, a move trustees had hoped would occur after Chuck Walder won the primary and, all things being equal, probably the November election.
