Three men caught stealing a freezer full of ice cream from an Amish freezer house have been indicted on charges of breaking and entering, and petty theft.

Michael L. Pascal, 51, of 15791 Pierce St., Middlefield Village, Raymond J. Welz Jr., 34, of 4544 N. Park Road, and Mark H. Boggess, 34, of 4548 Hill Road, both of West Farmington, were charged with one count each of B&E, a fifth-degree felony, and petty theft, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Pascal and Welz were arrested March 21 after they were caught on a trail camera stealing a freezer full of ice cream on March 10 from an Amish freezer house on Old State Road in Middlefield Township.

Boggess, the driver of the getaway car, was arrested two days later.

The arrests followed a nearly month-long Geauga County Sheriff’s Office investigation into thefts from the Amish community related to money boxes and freezers, Lt. John Hiscox, sheriff’s office public information officer, said in March.

All three men were released on a personal recognizance bond in Chardon Municipal Court and their cases were bound over the Geauga County Common Pleas Court. Their arraignment dates have not been scheduled.
