Montville Township Trustees have decided to close the recycling drop-off site located at 9755 Madison Road due to misuse.
Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste Management District established the recycling program to collect everyday recyclables such as cans, glass bottles and jars, paper, cardboard and plastic containers.
“It is unfortunate that the recycling site was not used properly,” said Holly Carine, district representative. “One of our goals is to provide convenient and easily accessible recycling to residents.”
The Abitibi Paper Recycling Boxes will also be removed, she added.
Montville residents should use the Chardon site located at 470 Center St.; Thompson Township Road Department, 6565 Madison Road; or Huntsburg Township Recreation Park, 17085 Mayfield Road.
This is the second site to close recently in Geauga County as Hamden Township had similar contamination problems.
The district is encouraging residents to only place recyclables at the sites so they can continue to provide recycling opportunities to Geauga communities, Carine said.
