A new Cub Scout Pack has formed and chartered in Middlefield.
Under the guidance of Boy Scouts of America’s Lake Erie Council, Cub Scout Pack 3141 was chartered with the First United Methodist Church located at 14999 S. State Ave., Middlefield.
The Pack is a Family Scouting Cub Scout Pack, meaning girls are invited to join. The girls will have their own separate meetings, but will be chartered under the same organization.
Pack 3141 is also open to kindergarteners this 2018-2019 scouting year. Children are entering kindergarten in the fall of 2018 are eligible to join.
There are different dens according to the grade of the Scout. For example, kindergarten is Lion Den, first grade is Tiger Den, second grade is Wolf Den, third grade is Bear Den and fourth and fifth grade are Webelos 1 and 2.
“By joining a Family Scout program like Pack 3141, parents who have multiple school-aged children can be a part of one organization focused on helping youth development, critical leadership and ethical value,” according to a press release.
“All the volunteer leaders are trained in Youth Protection and background-screened adults, helping to deliver the best program they can as position-trained Cub Scout Leaders,” the release said. “They are dedicated in helping shape the future of our youth here in Geauga County.”
Individuals interested in a volunteer position should email membershippack3141@gmail.com.
Help is always welcome with the youth. A background check is mandatory. All that is needed of your time is one hour a week and a little training.
The Pack meets at First United Methodist Church every Tuesday at 7 p.m.
There will be an informal meeting to kick off the 2018-2019 season of scouting in Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. There will be games, pop bottle launches (bring a 2-liter bottle), bonfire and food. SPOILER ALERT: Smores may be involved here. The location of this event is at the field next to Mary Yoder’s.
