Sheriff’s Report

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 17-23, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 343 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Aug. 19

8:28 a.m., Clark Road, Chardon. Can hear two cows coming toward the house in the woods and one sounds like it is in distress. Caller already spoke with a neighbor that has cows and they said it’s not theirs.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Aug. 20

3:05 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Caller states one of his trucks from his business on Mayfield was involved in a crash in Independence and was then towed to Twinsburg where his truck was then auctioned off.

FRAUD

Aug. 17

3:35 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Complainant is now at home. There is a skimmer on the #1 gas pump. Someone tried to use her card for over $6,000. Spoke with caller who did not want to file a report; they already had canceled their credit card. They only requested we check the pumps at Circle K. All of the gas pumps were physically checked out along with the manager. No tampering or skimmers were observed.

Aug. 20

1:09 p.m., Williams Road, Hambden. Door-to-door guy. He spread some asphalt and then he took a check for $1,000. Bank called to stop the check. Truck said A1 Asphalt. Deputy advised. Advice given.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Aug. 17

2:20 p.m., Farmington Road, Parkman. Caller needs to make a report for property damage to her vehicle. Four young children between 3 and 5 years old threw rocks at caller’s vehicle. Minor damage was done to the passenger side door. Children and parents identified and both mothers were advised they were responsible for the minor damage done to vehicle.

SUSPICIOUS

Aug. 18

10:31 a.m., Nauvoo Road, Middlefield. Male in parking lot talking crazy about blood and a murder and bombs. This is in the lot of Nauvoo Family Market. White elderly male. Complainant and subject left prior to arrival.

Aug. 20

12:30 p.m., Thwing Rod, Chardon. Caller would like to speak with someone because she thinks her phone and her house are bugged. She and her husband are sitting in the driveway in a car because they think house is bugged. Deputy advised. Advice given.

3:31 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller reports someone had relations in her backyard. She’s reporting they are turning knobs and are hiding from her. She’s also reporting they were on her roof and are now in the woods. Caller has domestic and alcohol alerts. UTL/GOA.

VANDALISM

Aug. 20

6:21 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Caller reports vandalism on a telephone poll at 322 and Aquilla. Someone spray painted a penis and swastika on the pole. CEI was contacted and asked to paint over it.
