Ondrey is Impartial, Fair

I support David Ondrey in his campaign to be elected as a Judge of the Geauga County Common Pleas Court.

I have known David for more than a decade, during which he has been the Solicitor for the Village of South Russell. As a councilman for the Village, I have been impressed with his broad knowledge of the law, his impartiality and his innate sense of fairness in addressing the Village’s legal issues.

David Ondrey will bring these qualities to the Common Pleas Court and ensure the swift, efficient and fair administration of justice for the people of Geauga County.

In addition to observing him perform admirably as the Village Solicitor, I also know David Ondrey through the Geauga County Bar Association. I am very familiar with his participation in a variety of Geauga County civic organizations as well. Through these associations, David Ondrey has developed deep roots in Geauga County and a passion to serve the people of Geauga County. He is without a doubt the right choice for Judge of the Geauga County Common Pleas Court.

I urge all voters to cast their ballots for David Ondrey on Nov. 6.

Vote Third Party

For positive change, the only hope is to vote for third parties.

Each major party is unwilling to give quarter to its rival. In this regard, there isn’t any difference between Democrats and Republicans. The quarrel between these two factions has been destructive to the country, and, if politicians of those two parties continue to be elected, no positive change can possibly happen. The only way to change their behavior is to vote for minor party candidates or independents.

The Libertarian Party of Ohio expended every last bit of its resources over the last several years, successfully giving all Ohioans another choice on the ballot. This November, I encourage all voters to view their ballots ahead of time at their counties’ Board of Elections website to find out who all of the candidates are. Do your research and vote for the candidate that you believe is best for the job. You may be surprised to find that the best candidate might not have a D or R next to their name.

Candidates like Robert Coogan for State Auditor — the only auditor candidate with actual auditing experience. For Secretary of State you will see Dustin Nanna, a champion of voters’ rights and ballot access. Travis Irvine is the only fiscally conservative, pro-2a candidate you will see running for governor this November.

Locally, Candace Loyd is running for county commissioner and hopes to enact her policies to prevent future embezzlements like what happened in the IT department last year.

You might be told the fallacy that voting for a third party is a wasted vote. Voting third party is possibly the most important vote you could ever make. It’s the most effective way to send a message to establishment politicians that you are done waiting for them to do their jobs.

Umholtz is ‘Real Deal’

I am writing this letter so people can understand who Bob Umholtz is.

He has to be one of the biggest supporters of families that I have ever met. He is passionate about his work and people, which requires a lot of time and energy.

He has been Geauga County’s Chief Public Defender for nearly 30 years and has represented thousands of people in our Geauga County Courts.

He has a true heart for all. He truly sees how alcohol and drugs are greatly affecting our community, and knows what it will take to get people help in these areas. I have seen him firsthand help families get recovery.

He and his family have helped thousands and he protects the constitutional rights for everyone of us everyday. He has integrity. He genuinely loves and cares for all of us.

Get to know him yourself. He is the real deal.

Geauga Bench Needs Umholtz

I support Bob Umholtz for Geauga Court of Common Pleas Judge. Bob has been representing people in Geauga county for over 34 years, most of that as Chief Public Defender. Bob knows well the problems currently facing our county as he works daily in Geauga courts.

I have had the privilege of knowing Bob and Marie Umholtz for more than 25 years. Both have lived and practiced law in Chardon. Both of their sons were born there. Two years ago they started building their home and farm in Claridon Township, where they now live.

My husband Chip (Judge Charles “Chip” Henry) worked with Bob as his assistant Public Defender before he took the bench in 1992. Chip always respected Bob’s diligent commitment to the law. Even though Chip is no longer with us, I strongly believe he would join me in supporting Bob for the Geauga Court of Common Pleas. He is exactly the kind of person we need on the bench.

Kennedy will Fight for Healthcare

Last year, I wrote an email to Sarah LaTourette. I told her the story of a relative of mine, a young woman (I’ll call her Marie) who got pregnant as a teen and gave the baby up for adoption.

After that, Marie struggled with the pain of that experience, made some bad choices, and wandered without direction. It took years, but Marie turned her life around. She is now working and going to college part time. While she still struggles to pay the bills, she has taken responsibility for her life and that includes getting her healthcare from a low-cost clinic.

I wrote to LaTourette because she had recently voted against funding for such facilities. I was trying to remind her that many people, like Marie, rely upon such programs for their basic healthcare needs.

LaTourette responded to my email, and she confirmed: Yes, she voted against healthcare funding. She told me, in essence, Marie should just go somewhere else to get her healthcare.

LaTourette doesn’t seem to understand. “Just get your healthcare from somewhere else” isn’t an option for most of us. LaTourette’s flippant response shows me she is out of touch with the people of Chesterland, Bainbridge, Mantua and Parkman.

That’s why, this November, my vote is going to John Kennedy. John understands the struggles of getting and keeping good healthcare.

John was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1996, and since then, has been working to bring attention and solutions to our most pressing healthcare concerns. As you may have seen, John recently completed an amazing feat. He ran 142 miles, from Aurora to the Statehouse in Columbus, to bring attention to the rising cost of insulin. John knows the importance of having good health care coverage, and he’s not afraid to work for solutions.

Unlike LaTourette, who voted to limit our healthcare options, John will fight to protect and expand health care coverage for all citizens of the 76th district. He will make it his priority, so hard-working people like Marie can continue to succeed.

On Nov. 6, please vote for John Kennedy.

Umholtz Serves with Honor

If you’re like me, voting for judges has always been a challenging decision. It’s mostly because I really didn’t know much about the candidates running for these important positions. Many times I would skip over voting for a judge altogether or just vote for someone based on their political party.

This Nov. 6 in Geauga County, we have a choice of three candidates running for judge of common pleas court. One from each political party and Bob Umholtz, an independent candidate. All three candidates are touting “experience matters” — and it does.

However, Bob Umholtz is the only candidate who is in the courtroom on a daily basis. You can check this out for yourself by going to the clerk of courts webpage. You will find that the Democratic has never had a case in a Geauga County courtroom and the Republican candidate only had three cases in the Geauga Common Pleas Court.

Bob Umholtz has handled thousands of cases in the Geauga County courtrooms over his 28 years as Geauga County Chief Public Defender. He knows how a courtroom operates. He’s in the courtroom all the time.

Known for being fair minded, Bob has earned the respect of people who work in the courthouse, law enforcement and clients.

Bob has also had extensive experience in civil cases, he was working for federal Judge Thomas Lambros prior to becoming Chief Public Defender.

Bob is a lifelong conservative who believes a judge should be free of any political party’s influence.

I met Bob almost 40 years ago. He was my neighbor in Chardon Township and working his way through law school as a blacksmith. He trimmed and shod my horses hoofs. We became friends. I have never met a more decent and honest person.

A judge is called  “Your Honor.” This has always applied to Bob Umholtz. It’s how Bob conducts his life – with honor.

This November my vote for judge of Geauga County Common Pleas Court will be easy. Because I know Bob Umholtz. I know his values, his character and his integrity.

Please join me in voting for Air Force veteran, blacksmith and attorney Bob Umholtz for Judge of Geauga County Common Pleas Court.

Ondrey Has the Experience

I am going to vote for Dave Ondrey for Common Pleas Court Judge and I ask everyone to support him as well.

I have known Dave for many years, both personally and professionally, and I know he will be a fine Judge based on my personal observations of him and his past record and accomplishments.

Dave is an experienced trial attorney who has practiced law for nearly four decades in Geauga County. He has represented townships, governmental agencies, individuals, corporations and other organizations in both civil and criminal matters.

In addition, he has held very responsible positions in vital Geauga County not-for-profit organizations including Geauga Hospital, United Way and University Hospitals Health System. Dave knows our community and its values.

Most importantly, Dave has the temperament to be a fair, impartial, compassionate and scholarly judge.

I urge you to vote for Dave Ondrey for Geauga County Common Pleas Court.
