It was a beautiful morning on May 5. Clothes were drying so nicely out on the clothes lines.. Birds were singing and early flowers were blooming … all signs of spring.
I’m anxious to start digging around my flowerbeds and also plant some seeds now that it is warming up.
Wedding season has started. The first one we attended was on May 1 at Eli and Susan Miller’s on Reeves Road of their daughter Cora and Robert, son of John Troyers of Newcomb Road. It was a beautiful day, but a little chilly.
We have two more invitations here, one for Neoma, daughter of Raymond Detweilers of Nauvoo Road, and Lester, son of Eli and Esther Byler of Tavern Road, on May 22. Also, Linda, daughter of Robert and Rachel Hershberger of Nash Road, and Jamie, son of Jerry and Mary Sue Miller of Newcomb Road, on May 27. June 1 is the wedding of Naomi, daughter of Paul and Linda Miller, and Leonard, son of Raymond and Rachel Beachy, both of Mio, Mich. So, this is not a good time to think of dieting.
The evening of May 4, Joe and I were served a turkey dinner at son Ray’s. It was delicious. Thanks, Ray. After dinner, son Richards joined us at Ray’s. Our afternoon company was son Perry, Katie Ann and David.
The first baseball game of the season was May 5. Richard Miller was not able to play because he still needs to wear his boot on his leg.
The end of the year school picnic at Saw Mill Lane School was the evening of May 2. It was cool, but everyone was still able to play ball. The smaller children had a candy throw and released helium balloons. A barbecue burger supper was served.
Stopping to visit sister Fannie and Melvin Yoder the morning of May 2 were Sylvia and Albert Miller, their son Lester, Linda and family and several other great-nieces and nephews, all from Mio, Mich. They were on their way home from Guys Mills, Pa., after attending a wedding on May 1.
We are sorry to hear Freemon Yoder is in the hospital again. Mrs. John Mat Miller visited him at the hospital one day.
Greenhouse plants are being sent to the produce auction. I need to transplant some flowers and fix hanging baskets.
So far, we have not been lucky enough to have any martins stay. I still keep hoping.
There will be a blood drive on May 10 at Joe’s Window Shop. Anyone is welcome to come and donate.
Chuckles
A woman rushed into the supermarket to pick up a few items. She headed for the express lane where a young man at the register was talking on the phone with his back turned to her.
“Excuse me,” she said. “I’m in a hurry. Could you check me out, please?”
The clerk turned, stared at her for a second, looked her up and down, smiled and said, “Not bad.”
You all have a good week.
