Free Beer for Life?

It started as a gimmick, and then it spread.

When Mike Nedrow, the owner of Chardon BrewWorks, told Lebron James in 2010 he would have free beer for life if he stayed in Cleveland it caused a stir on local news stations and blogs. Of course, at that time, any bit of Lebron news was big news. It also reached a newspaper in London.

But after James decided to return to Cleveland this summer, Mike wasn’t finished, releasing the following statement last week: “You left. But we need you to know: We’re over it. And, more importantly: YOU’RE BACK ON, LEBRON!”

Yes, the offer has been extended. Free beer any day without limit for Lebron James.

James’ camp has actually reached out the BrewWorks, saying Lebron isn’t ready to have his first high-profile beer (It doesn’t look like he takes in a lot of carbs), but any donation to Lebron’s foundation would be appreciated.

Mike, a pilot who spends weeks at a time out of town, is still considering that counter offer, we’re told.

Still, Geauga Countians can hope.

Any time, buddy,” the release ended. “Call or text. Or just show up. Your mug is waiting.”

The BrewWorks has relocated to 200 Center Street in Chardon after spending their first three years on the Square. There are 10 home-brewed Chardon beers on tap and daily specials include 4 to 6 p.m. happy hour prices and $5 discounts on growler fills on Wednesdays.
