One person was killed and two injured when a motorcycle collided with a car at 10:08 p.m. Wednesday in Newbury Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Jody Davis, 55, of Newbury Township, was southbound on Auburn Road driving a 2002 Chevrolet Tracker when a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, northbound on Auburn Road, crossed the centerline and overturned, sliding into Davis’ vehicle, according to the report.

Both riders were ejected from the motorcycle and Davis was trapped in her vehicle.

Newbury Township Fire Department personnel extricated her and she and the passenger of the motorcycle were transported to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center by an emergency helicopter. Davis had non-life threatening injuries, which includes a broken ankle, according to a friend of the family.

Davis is the wife of Ted Davis, pastor of Fowler’s Mill Christian Church in Munson Township.

The passenger remains in critical condition as of Thursday morning.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported by Newbury Emergency Medical Service to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger of the motorcycle were not wearing helmets and alcohol is believed to be a factor, according to the OSHP. The crash remains under investigation. Names were withheld until next of kin could be notified.

The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
