The Chardon Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at Web Triax Corporation, 215 Fifth Ave. around noon Friday.
Upon arrival, fire crews only saw light smoke inside the building.
The cause of the smoke was an intermittent overheating of hydraulic fluid from a compressor machine, said Fire Chief Larry Gaspar in a statement.
While on scene, Gaspar had crews investigate the source of the problem and ventilate the smoke from the building.
The situation was brought under control in roughly 20 minutes, he said, adding there were no injuries, only slight damage to the machine and no damage to the building.
Munson and Hambden fire departments were on scene as well.
