The Chester Township Board of Trustees held its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 29. The meeting included change order approvals for chip seal work performed by Ronyak Brothers from $133,750 to $134,283 as approved by the Geauga County Engineer Joe Cattell.
Employment of part-time road department summer hires Mark Roseum and Gary Huston were formally terminated. The board thanks them both for their service.
Trustees approved funds of $5,940 to purchase Ice Bite beet juice solution for pre-wetting salt, which improves performance and efficiencies. Funds of $100 were approved to the Geauga County Treasurer’s Education Fund for public funds manager training for Fiscal Officer Craig Richter. Other approvals included monies for road department supplies and materials, vehicle undercoating and $26,594.56 to upgrade police and fire mobile data terminals.
To date, $20,887.94 has been spent on the Chester Township Recycle Park, with the most recent monies being spent for electrical and lighting. Trustees are working with Steve Decatur and his group at the County IT Department to identify appropriate security cameras, communication and data storage systems and will seek proposals once this scope is finalized.
The board also approved advertising for positions on the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Zoning Commission. Each term would begin Jan. 1, 2016, through Dec. 31, 2020. Chester residents interested in serving are asked to submit a letter with a description of qualifications by 4 p.m. Dec. 4 to Chester Township Board of Trustees, 12701 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, OH 44026, or drop applications off at town hall.
