Scrapbook Crop

Nov. 14, 1-4:30 p.m.

Bring photos, supplies and a friend to share ideas during an afternoon of fun. The library’s Ellison die machine will be available. Participants are welcome to work on all types of paper crafts such as card making, scrapbooks or iris folding. Free and open to the public; registration is required.

Iris Folding: On Your Own

Nov. 17, 6:30 p.m.

The class is designed for those who are already familiar with iris folding. Learn how to set a design on a template to complete an iris folded card. Bring scissors, transparent and double sided tape and a pattern, if available. Class size is limited. Free and open to the public; registration is required.

Passport Fair

Nov. 17, 7-8:30 p.m.

Many Geauga County residents have Cuyahoga County roots. Learn about the main repositories and websites for Cuyahoga County records.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

Register now for special holiday storytimes for November and December.

The Gift of Giving

Nov. 12, 7 p.m.

Youth in grades K-5 bring a new or gently used book for the library’s gift book drive. All contributions will be shared with Geauga Job and Family Services for its annual holiday gift distribution. Par-ticipants will also make holiday cards and bookmarks to accompany each book.

Painting with a Plot

Nov. 17, 3:30 p.m.

Youth in grades 6-12 will listen to a poem or story and then paint what comes to mind to create a masterpiece.

Gifting This Year’s Books

Dec. 3, 7 p.m.

As a special parent program, the youth services staff will present book ideas that are fun, entertaining and great reads for holiday gift giving. There will be an activity for children while parents find out about these great books.

Cookie Decorating

Dec. 17, 7 p.m.

Back by popular demand, youth in grades K-5 will decorate cookies for the holiday season as a gift or for a snack.

iSTEM Ribbon Cutting

Nov. 17, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The iSTEM Geauga Early College High School, located on Auburn Career Center’s campus at 8140 Auburn Road in Concord Township, will celebrate is grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The community is welcome to tour the facility, learn about the curriculum and meet the staff.

Light appetizers and refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.

Interested eighth- and ninth-grade students can spend a day at iSTEM and get a hands-on feel for iSTEM by attending classes, meeting current students and touring the facilities during the school’s Tuesday Shadow Program, which runs through Dec. 8.

College Information Session

Nov. 18, 6:30 p.m.

The Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation will hold free scholarship session for high school seniors and their parents in the LEAF Resource Center located at 8221 Auburn Road in Concord.

The session will provide seniors with tips on how to find and apply for college scholarships. The session will be repeated on Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m.

Auburn Open House

“The Lion King Jr.” Rules

Nov. 20, 6:30 p.m.

Nov. 21, 1 p.m. & 5 p.m.

Disney’s “The Lion King Jr.” is playing at R.C. Lindsey Elementary in Chester Township. The 75-minute musical, designed for middle-school aged performers, is based on the Broadway production directed by Julie Taymor and the 1994 Disney film. The R.C. Lindsey cast contains approximately 70 students led by Mrs. Deanna Harrison and Ms. Vanessa Pintabona.

The Lion King Jr. tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters including lioness Nala, meerkat Timon and warthog Pumbaa. To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Pridelands, Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked Uncle Scar.

Admission is $6 for children and students and $8 for adults.
