I have to say that I snuck out of today’s breakfast.

After three busy days and very late nights, I gave in to my need for sleep. Going to bed at 3 a.m. and then getting shocked awake at 4:30 a.m. by the hotel smoke alarm  going off didn’t make for a restful night. At least there wasn’t a fire and the alarm was silenced after a few minutes. Plenty of my colleagues were dragging today, but I felt energized. A solid seven hours will do that!

If being rested wasn’t enough to energize me, tonight’s speeches were.

Republicans and Independents joined others to show support for Hillary. Michael Bloomberg spoke convincingly about the Hillary he knows and respects. His endorsement of her generated huge applause.

Gabby Gifford rocked the house, our vice president nominee Tim Kaine, Vice President Joe Biden and finally our President Barack Obama. Tonight, stories about Hillary were shared; her service, her compassion, her intelligence, her devotion to her family and her readiness to step into the Oval Office. President Obama asked us to step onto the battle field with her as we did with him. He challenged us to vote not only for Hillary but for qualified judges, congressmen, governors and up and down the ticket.

Our children’s future depends on it! Inspirational and uplifting, tonight was about America’s future, positive and hopeful, bringing out the best in all of us.

When Hillary walked out onto the stage and hugged our president the crowd roared. Cheers and whistles reverberated,  signs waved and tears were seen on many faces. I was proud of my president and my party tonight. I believe in the positive and prosperous future they predict.

Like Hillary, I’m a grandmother and much of my focus is on the world they’ll grow up in. I chose the positive hopeful world described tonight.
