Birthright Geauga is Moving
Birthright, a pregnancy and family support center, is moving to a new location at 209 Center St. in Chardon. The non-profit organization has been providing hope to pregnant women and families with young children in the community for over 40 years. All services are free and include pregnancy testing, maternity and baby/children’s clothing, emergency formula and diapers and other essential items.
The new office will be open on Dec. 5. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 440-286-9711 for more information.
County Offers Flu Shots
Geauga County Health District will provide flu shots for anyone over 19 years old from 8:30-11 a.m. every Friday during the season at 470 Center St., Building 8, Chardon.
The cost to individuals paying in cash is $40, or, for high-dose vaccine for those 65 and older, $60. The health district is able to accept most Medicare and employer health insurance plans.
No appointment is necessary, but residents may call the health district at 440-279-1950 to preregister and have insurance verified.

Blood Pressure Screenings
Lake Health will offer free blood pressure checks at the Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
2016 Immunization Clinics
The Geauga County General Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a primary insurance card. The following is a list of upcoming immunization clinics:

Flu Shots
Lake Health is offering quadrivalent flu shots for $30 at the Chardon Campus Urgent Care Center, 510 Fifth Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No appointment is necessary. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to receive the seasonal flu vaccine at our centers. The influenza vaccination is covered by Medicare.

Senior Connection

Lake Health will offer Senior Connection in St. Mary’s banquet hall, 401 North St. in Chardon. The Lunch and Learn program features a variety of topics dealing with seniors. November’s topic is “Healthy Holiday Prep.”

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group

The Alzheimer’s Association Cleveland Area Chapter’s caregiver support group meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St. in Chardon.
The group is designed to provide emotional, educational and social support while encouraging caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health, as well as optimally care for the person with dementia.
