Crater Simulations

Students in Becky Mele’s fifth-grade science classes are studying craters, which they learned are formed by the impact of meteors. The students used shallow aluminum pans filled with sand and dropped different sized balls from varying heights to see if they could simulate how craters are formed and thereby predict their size and shape.

CMS Robotics Club

Members of Chardon Middle School’s Robotics Club have been busy learning about light sensors, which enable a robot to detect light, making it easier for it to operate autonomously. The club members, working in teams, have been learning to program their robots to react when a certain amount of light was detected.
