West Geauga Schools Treasurer Karen Penler announced at the Feb. 27 school board meeting that under Gov. John Kasich’s proposed budget, the district will lose roughly $170,000. “It’s a reduction in our state foundation payment due to a decrease in enrollment,” Penler said in a phone interview March 1. The treasurer cautioned that figure was just an estimate and “the legislature looks at it and may make changes.” “We will just wait and see,” she said.
