Book Sale Donations Needed
The West Geauga Friends of the Library are now accepting donations for their annual summer book sale, which will take place July 30 to Aug. 2. Donations of gently used or new children’s and adult books, collectibles, comics, CDs, DVDs, audio books on CD, puzzles and games for adults and children, sheet music, coffee table books and prints can be dropped off at the Geauga West Library during regular library hours. No textbooks or encyclopedias, please. A receipt for donations is available.
Funds raised from the book sale support the Geauga West Library, including adult and children’s’ programs.

‘Battle of the Wilderness’
The Battle of the Wilderness, fought May 57, 1864, was the first battle of Ulysses S. Grant’s 1864 Virginia Overland Campaign against Robert E. Lee and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia.
David Lintern, of the James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor, will commemorate the 150th anniversary of this Civil War event with a presentation at 7 p.m. May 5 at Chardon Public Library.

GCRTA Grants Offered
The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association is offering two $1,500 grants to deserving college seniors. The recipients must be enrolled in a college of education and be student teaching during the 2014-15 school year. In addition, the person must have resided in Geauga County or be a graduate of a Geauga County high school.
Completed applications must be submitted by May 15.

GEL Breakfast May 2
David J. Enzerra, vice president of community and public affairs at The Lubrizol Corporation and president of The Lubrizol Foundation, will be the guest speaker at the final Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) breakfast of the season on May 2 at 7:30 a.m. at the Burton campus of Kent State University, 14111 Claridon Troy Road.
He will talk about corporate responsibility and community engagement.
