The Chardon Community Action Team (CCAT) has awarded scholarships to Chardon graduates Ella Brickman, Tyler Mothersbaugh and Jennifer Vandenberg.

CCAT works in the community to reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs among area youth through education and drug free activities.

Every year, the Chardon Community Action Team sponsors a number of events such as its annual Car & Motorcycle Show, being held Aug. 19, making this scholarship possible.

CCAT reviewed appellations from a number of applicants who have chosen to grow up without the influence of alcohol, drugs and tobacco in their lives. Each applicant not only met all scholarship criteria, but also exceeded them.

“Congratulations to each and every one of the applicants who applied for this scholarship that our group offered,” said Lyn Kempf, vice president of CCAT. “It is truly a great thing to see so many youths choosing to live a healthy life.”

CCAT meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Chardon Municipal Center, 111 Water St.
