Trustee meetings have been changed for June and July. All township meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend. Call 440-636-5486 for more information.
The next meeting is June 26. July meetings are July 11 and 25 to accommodate holiday and vacation schedules.
Trustees wish to thank residents for their consideration and patience on tire and trash day. This year was an exception to all other years. Trustees ordered the same three dumpsters they always have – one for scrap and two for trash. The two trash dumpsters have never been filled, but this year, all three plus a township truck were filled.
There was a wait – some waited up to an hour – but everyone was serviced and no one was turned away. Unfortunately, some arrived too early and some came after hours, but the employees still took their trash.
Charlie and Kevin worked steady and hard that day and remarked how well everything went. The two men from the tire recycling company also chipped in to help.
Each dumpster cost $325; the total for the day in dumpsters was $1,050. Additional cost for labor, fuel and administrative cost increases the total amount the township expends for trash day. A total of 410 tires were collected, costing $1,001.60.
Currently, the township offers this as a free service to its residents and the Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste District covers the cost for the tires in grant funding.
Vote
Residents not registered to vote have until Oct. 9 to do so. The general election will be held on Nov. 6.
Huntsburg voters vote in the Huntsburg Community Center. The building is handicap accessible.
To obtain a voter registration form, stop in at the township office, board of elections or visit the board of elections website.
ZONING
Zoning inspector Frank Corrao III wishes to remind all residents to obtain a zoning permit prior to making any construction changes of any kind. The zoning office may be reached by calling the office at 440-636-5486, ext. 3 and leaving a message.
